About MoonFire

We are a CUUPs (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans) Chapter.

We are affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington (UUCA)

We meet at the UUCA Church, 4444 Arlington Boulevard (corner of Route 50 and George Mason Drive).

We celebrate Ritual the third Sunday of every month. Ritual begins at 1:00 PM and is followed by potluck and fellowship.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 12:45 PM and to check the easel at the inside stairs to determine in which room we will be meeting.

Our Mission and Vision Statement

"We strive to build a safe and nurturing community that is inclusive and provides for spiritual growth and service to the Earth and Her children. We are the Hub of the Wheel of Life, the Crossroads where all meet; We are a Chalice of the Goddess; We are of the Earth, rich and empowering; We are a Rock, safe and secure; We are a Rainbow, diverse with many colors yet together in one band; We are a Flame of Spirituality, providing the light to see our path before us."

This Month's Events

June 21: Litha Sun Celebration

“Yesterday is ashes; tomorrow wood. Only today does the fire burn brightly.”
- Old Eskimo saying

The Sun has reached its peak of power for this fleeting moment in the year. Stop… and enjoy the moment.

This ritual will help participants focus the great energy of the Sun on this day toward assisting them in remembering to live in the moment and enjoy each day as it comes.

Ritual participants will charge and receive tokens of this energy and the promise to live in the present to take home with them. 1 PM at the Church.

July 9: Special Working Circle: An Introduction to Norse Cosmology and Ritual Practices with Rath This working circle will look at how Norse ritual structure is influenced by its cosmology. Topics covered will include the Northern pantheons, the World Tree, and Fate. A guided meditation will be offered as a way to tie it all together. This working circle will be a prelude to our August 2nd ritual, also lead by Rath.

Rath enjoys working with people from many backgrounds and lineages. He primarily draws upon the Norse, Celtic and ceremonial paths for his own work within the Clan of the Knotted Ash (based in Buffalo, New York). He currently lives in Northern Virginia and has coordinated the Open Holiday Circles at Sacred Circle Bookshop in Old Town Alexandria since Mabon of 2007. At the Church, 7:30 PM this day.

July 19: Fire Element Ritual. Our friends from Turning Circle CUUPS group in Maryland (www.turningcircle.org) have agreed to lead another Litha ritual for us. It will be an exploration of the element Fire. Fire symbolizes the passion and energy in our lives. It encompasses the power of transformation. Fire is an element that requires a perfect balance: it can nurture and sustain life, but uncontrolled it is a force of destruction. Please join us in the deep heat of summer, as we renew our appreciation and kinship to the element Fire. 1 PM at the Church.
